Overview of research ¨Japanese
OSS is a measurement system of waveforms and temporal variation of spectra of ultrashot optical pulses based on the new principle of ultrafast time-space conversion. In the system, temporal variation of spectra composing of ultrashort (sub-picosecond) optical pulses can be converted into a two dimensional image called spectrogram by means of time-space conversion technique and optical interference technique. By analyzing this spectrogram, temporal variation of waveforms and time-dependent spectral distribution of ultrashort optical pulses can be precisely measured.
This system enables the following
‚P
Sampling of 1Tbps or greater
2
Measurement of ultrashort optical phenomena such as deformation of waveforms of ultrashort pulses and temporal variation of transitional absorption spectra
3
Visualization of temporal variation of spectrum composing of an ultrashort single optical pulse as an two dimensional image
This project is focused on the development of technical issues regarding targets to be measured as well as the commercial application and test production.
The commercial application of this system will enable the monitoring of waveform of an ultrashort single optical pulse transmitted through optical fiber, which had been difficult to achieve, and the measuring of ultrafast transitional absorption spectra of light produced from materials, which is becoming increasingly important in the field of nanotechnology.
